1/17/2006 - Klein buries the Nimitz Cougars 7-1 at Klein Memorial Stadium.

The match was moved from Kleb Field because of wet field conditions to Klein Stadium on the new turf.

Klein jumped out to an early lead on Senior Midfielder #4 Stephen Rafai's header off the Junior Kirk Madsen crossing ball passed Cougar Sophomore Keeper David Zamarripa just 4 minutes into the match.

It was a night to score at will as Klein posted 7 goals in the first 40 minute half. Junior Forward Chad Bauman broke free outside the 20 yard line and surprised Zamarripa with a far corner crossing shot that found the net for Bearkat goal #2. Klein's Senior Midfielder Dylan Sansone scored goal #3 off a nice set up pass from Stephen Rafai beating Zamarripa with a low near corner shot.

Nimitz rarely had a chance on goal. A free kick outside the 20-yard line left corner was a golden opportunity for the Cougars that was taken away by Bearkat Sophomore Keeper Cody Gibson.

Chad Bauman netted Klein's 4th goal at the 18th minute and second goal on the night for himself. Two minutes later Junior Defender J.P. Blanchard scored goal #5 for the Kats off the assist from Junior Midfielder Kirk Madsen. Junior Midfielder Nathan Perschke scored goal #6 off a deflection inside the six-yard box and slipped the ball passed Zamarripa. Senior Forward Nathan Thornton finished out the half with Klein's 7th goal off the assist from Dylan Sansone.

Nimitz Forward Hugo Lopez broke through the Klein defense and scored their lone goal passed Klein's Junior Keeper Bryan DePan. Klein Head Coach Allen Baker played all his supporting players during the 2nd half.

The Bearkats travel to Brenham for the Diadora Cup Tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Klein won the Tournament last year.
